Individual |
| |
|
This is the most
common type of membership and is held by individuals in their own
name. Persons in partnership in the operation of a herd can also be
individual members. This allows them to identify animals owned either
in partnership or individually at member rates. |

Partnership |
| |
|
This is for family
operations or for individuals or entities associated together under
a partnership agreement who jointly own registered Holsteins. A signed
partnership agreement must be available upon request, but is not required
for husband and wife partnerships. Please note that, except for certain
family partnerships, if individuals within a partnership change, the
partnership membership is no longer valid and all animals must be
transferred to reflect their new ownership. If animals are owned by
husband and wife in joint tenancy with right of survivorship, both
husband and wife must be individual members. The personal signature
of each partner is required on the application for partnership membership. |

Corporation or Institution |
| |
|
Corporations
and institutions owning animals must transact business and own animals
in the corporate or institution name. Personal signatures of responsible
corporate officers or the responsible officials of an institution
are required on the application for membership. |

Estate |
| |
|
This is available
even if the deceased was not an Association member. |

Associate Breeder |
| |
|
Individuals with religious beliefs
forbidding membership in organizations may apply for Associate Breeder
status. This entitles them to register and transfer animals at member
rates without joining the Association. |

Syndicate |
| |
|
This is for individuals and/or
entities, usually more than three, owning animals together. Individuals
may be added and deleted from syndicate ownership without transfers
of ownership. There must be a person designated as manager of the
syndicate. |
