WB00860_.GIF (262 bytes) PRINTING YOUR PEDIGREE(S):

Once your pedigree has been run and you are viewing it on the "Product Retrieval" page you can print a copy for your files. We have provided some simple steps below for you to follow.

Prior to ordering and printing your pedigree, you can test these print procedures using our sample pedigree, which is available by clicking here.

Print Procedures

These procedures should work in most window environments, including MS Windows, Mac and Linux:

  1. Be sure your pedigree is displayed in your browser.
  2. Click once in the midst of the pedigree text to be sure this is the "active" frame.
  3. From the browser menu, find the option which allows you to "Select all" (in Windows, Edit->Select All).
  4. From the browser menu, find the option which allows you to "Copy" (in Windows, Edit->Copy).
  5. Open a suitable text editor (in Windows, WordPad).
  6. In the text editor, be sure you have an "active" blank document (in WordPad, a blank document appears by default).
  7. In the text editor, perform a "Paste".
  8. The text of your pedigree should be displayed within the document.
  9. In the text editor, Perform a "Print Preview" and/or a test print.
  10. In the text editor, you can optionally save your pedigree.

Troubleshooting the Printed Pedigree

While in the text editor it might be necessary to remove blank lines and/or reduce the font size so as to fit a pedigree on a single page. (This can be accomplished by finding the "Select All" option and then revising the text font.)

It might be necessary to revise margin settings to prevent undesirable wrapping. You can usually find a Page Setup option in the text editor which will allow you to revise your margin settings to our recommended settings:

WB00860_.GIF (262 bytes) SAVING:

If you wish, you may save Pedigrees on your p.c. for later use.

 Click on File

Click on Save Frame As

A "Save As..." dialog box will appear on your screen.

In the Save in: location, you will see your current directory. If you wish to save your Pedigrees to another directory (ex. your word processing directory), locate and choose your desired directory.

Under File name: type in the name you wish the file to have.

Either give your file name a .txt extension manually, or under Save as type: choose Plain Text. If you do not save the pedigree as a text file, the file will contain html codes that you will not want in your document.

Click on Save

HINT: When you retrieve pedigrees into your word processor, you will need to make the same adjustments (Margins and Font) that are described above under "Printing".
