From Your President...

letterhead

Dear Fellow Holstein Association Members:

Below you will find a draft of the Council on Dairy Cattle Breeding's Proposed Business Plan, for taking over the U.S. dairy cattle evaluations from USDA. This document is the by-product of the Proposed Cooperative Agreement that was released last month (link can still be found below), and we hope that all Holstein members will take some time to review it, consider the implications, and provide comment. If you do have comments, questions or concerns, please submit them by Monday, July 16, at 4 p.m. Central to either me or CEO John M. Meyer. We will also be giving this topic good discussion at our upcoming Annual Meeting, June 29 and 30, in Springfield, MO.

As we reviewed previously, our U.S. dairy genetic evaluation system, which has worked successfully for the benefit of our membership, consumers, and the industry for over 50 years, could be modified significantly in the future. Please become a part of this important process and take the time to understand the potential changes and what impact they might have on you. We look forward to receiving your comments.

Sincerely,

Chuck Worden
President
